Thankful

...There seems to be some kind of American holiday going on.....

Yes, today is Thanksgiving. But once again, you wouldn't know it here in Spain. And for the record, that is okay by me.

Last year, I felt fairly homesick on Thanksgiving. But this year, I really don't. I left home only a week ago, so I don't really miss my family that much yet (No offense, guys!). Also, I did have the chance to have a good meal with my grandparents right before I left, which included my favorites: mashed potatoes and pie. So I'm all good on the food front, too.

So today, I will only partake in one Thanksgiving tradition: to give thanks. So let the record also show that today I am thankful for the health of my family and their constant support of my absurd life, my fantastic friends and their consistent love and encouragement, my safe return to the land of Spain, Skype and other technologies that allow me to still stay so close to home, Jon and his ability to help me through any situation, my roommate Laura and our friendship as it grows, good food (I just gotta throw that one in there) and more adventures to come.

I know that I am in your thoughts today, and please know that you are in mine as well. Lots of love and a Happy Thanksgiving to all!

  1. Yeaaaaah, my mom and I were reminiscing about being in Spain on Thanksgiving last year. Though the food is not the same, the adventures definitely make it worth it.
